The amphibian Mudpuppy is one of the Giant Salamanders. Some people think they make a barking sound. They have gills and slimy skin. They have to have a moist habitat for their gills to work and for their skin to stay moist. They are nocturnal (active at night) and hide in mud during the day.
Size: 8-13 inches.
Notice:
•The external feathery reddish gills.
•Dark stripe through the eye.
•4 toes on each of its 4 short weak legs.
