Glenwood School 2005 ArtStream Project
Project Description: Students mapped the school campus, to compare and contrast areas in terms of rainfall, soil permeability and composition, run-off, erosion, and present vegetation. Data collection along with art journaling provided information needed for future improvement of the school campus environment, to control run off and puddling problems. Improvements to the grounds will emphasize the use of native plants. Onsite coordinator: Michelle Carlson, art teacher; Co-teacher: Dawn King, art teacher; Artist in residence: Pat Hight, clay and drawing |

Other activities included as part of the project were a trip to Tingler Prairie with Rhonda Rhymer, MDC natural history biologist, for a look at the restored prairie at Tingler and comparison with what restoration would look like on the Glenwood school grounds. The Glenwood ArtStream Team hopes that their work this year will be the first step in a long range plan to develop their campus as an outdoor learning environment emphasizing the Ozarks ecosystem.
